Kristin Cheney (b. 1973) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice examines how attention shapes our relationships with materials, place, and one another. Through walking, drawing, sculpture, and site-responsive installations, she creates conditions for encounters that invite viewers to slow down, notice what is easily overlooked, and experience the world with curiosity and care.

Working with natural and reclaimed materials, including mesh, fibers, wax, clay, and sediment, Cheney embraces processes of accumulation, erosion, repair, and transformation. Rather than treating materials as passive objects, she treats them as active collaborators whose physical properties continue to shape the work over time.

Grounded in sustained observation of ecological systems, her practice considers the body and the landscape as interconnected archives that record movement, memory, and change. Her work encourages a more attentive and reciprocal way of being, inviting viewers to recognize that even the smallest acts of noticing can reshape how we relate to the world and to one another.
